Boron / cold heading · SAE J1268 / IS 11169
Cold-heads like a low-carbon steel, hardens like an alloy steel.
10B2115B2535B2Ø 4 – 19 mm
Why this grade
A few parts per million of boron (0.0005–0.003 %) sharply raise hardenability. That lets fastener makers head a soft, low-carbon wire and still quench it to 10.9-class strength — cheaper and easier on dies than an alloy grade.

How we anneal it
Spheroidise anneal
Keeps flow stress low so bolts can be headed and threaded at speed.
